Lying some 40 kilometres south of the capital, the Ala Archa National Park is one of the most popular attractions in the region. Here you can enjoy a full-day excursion to the mountains to explore the Ala Archa Canyon and enjoy some of the most spectacular views in the region.
Day 4:
Burana Tower, Lake Issyk-Kul andFairy Tale Canyon
Today we drive towards the south shore of lake Issyk-Kul for a night halt at one of the yurts next to the shore of the lake. On the way we will stop at the Burana Tower, a 20 metre high tower dating back one millennium. We will arrive by the lake around afternoon and shall have a traditional lunch. We will be camping at the southern side of the lake which has a lot more in terms of the Kyrgyz cultural experiences than the north shore. Visiting the villages here you can find professional yurt makers or you can meet a Kyrgyz falconer that can demonstrate the ancient Kyrgyz art of hunting with a trained eagle (we may stop for this at the village of Bokonbayevo).
Later, we will drive to the Fairy Tale Canyon and then to the Djety-Oguz gorge before returning to our camp for the night.
Day 5:
Transfer to Bishkek via northern shores with a stop atCholpon
Today we shall be heading back to Bishkek via the northern shore of the lake. The beaches on the north shore are significantly nicer than those on the south shore and are quite popular with domestic tourists. However, being a bit further away from the mountains, it does not offer as many outdoor mountain activities and spectacular scenaries as the south shore. On the way we will also stop at a large open air petroglyph museum outside of Cholpon Ata.
We will finally arrive in Bishkek and spend the night here.
Day 6:
