Today you shall visit Rhine Falls, amongst the largest waterfalls in Europe. A day trip from Zurich to Rhine Falls is a mandatory experience for anyone visiting Switzerland's biggest city and financial capital. They are the most powerful waterfall in Europe and about 150 metres (490 ft) wide and 23 metres (75 ft) high.
You can admire the falls from afar from the various viewing platforms or take a boat tour to experience the falls even closer. There's a boat trip to the rock in the middle of the falls, for example. The boat tours take 10 to 30 minutes, depending on which one you choose (Cost Extra - ranging between EUR 10-20 per person, to be booked at Rhine Falls directly). Some of the platforms, however, are so close to the falls that you can even feel the water on your face, while listening to the impressive roar of the water rushing down.
Right next to the train station, you will also see the Schloss Laufen, which is a castle overlooking the Rhine Falls and classified as a heritage site of national significance.
